Development Update 4/26/2025

Of course, that’s not the only thing we’ve been working on this month… We’ve been busy implementing feedback from our last playtest, adding new artwork and sounds, and hiding an easter egg for another awesome RIT game! This will be our LAST BUILD before the full release, so as always, we hope you’ll give the new build a try and let us know your thoughts so we can continue making the game better before we release it into the wild! 

Changelog

Final Boss Polish

The final boss has been kitted out with new sound effects! It's also re-rebalanced in response to feedback, so the fight's difficulty should progress more smoothly.

Reconstructed Island Ruins

The Island Ruins now have an all-new tileset! The level has been redesigned to go along with its new look, and Swordmaster Swordfish has been slightly tweaked to account for that.

Crude Crab Nerfs

Many people found Crude Crab to be a significant difficulty spike, so its fight been made slightly easier.

Mouse Confining

The cursor is now confined to the game's window so that you can no longer accidentally click off-screen and get unintentionally smacked by a fish.

Tutorial Tweaks

The tutorial dialogue has been rewritten to better teach some of the mechanics, such as hook retracting and the hookdash's invincibility.

Bugfixing

So much bugfixing. If a bug was spotted in the last playtest, it's been fixed.

A Hidden Friend

Seems like someone (or something) from another RIT game has snuck into Bait & Tackle! It's keeping post in one of the levels, do you think you can find it...
